A DCYC Camper Returns for Races
Preston Tidwell while enjoying an afternoon sail on this J80 “ShotGlass” has taken the love of sailing with him away to school at Texas A&M. As a previous DCYC Camper learning the skills for sailing, Preston was one of the first initial dozen campers in the inaugural session of Camp Windward. While going on to attend camp and other Junior activities each year, Preston moved into the role of Junior Counselor and then Counselor helping to teach others to sail and passing along the art and love of water and wind and became an active crew member on the race circuit.
Knowing there is always more to learn, Preston enjoys returning to DCYC as often as he can to be picked up as crew. Of course he has a fond memories, loyalty and affection for ShotGlass, and is particularly fond of JBoats- his skills obtained beginning with DCYC Camps and Junior programs has set him on a lifelong path to always have a love for sailing and boats of any type.
Keep an eye out for Preston around DCYC and stop to say hello, ask him to join your crew or just spend some time swapping race stories.
