Leukemia
Cup Regatta Update 4/4/08
If you have looked on the DCYC webpage or read the Hailer this month,
you are certainly aware that the 2008 LCR is at hand. This regatta,
which is co-sponsored with the Corinthian Sailing Club on White
Rock Lake, has grown to be one of the sailing highlights for North
Texas. It is wonderful to be able to share the workload, create
2 weekends of events for various classes of sailboats, have some
great parties and raise a good amount of money for the Leukemia
Lymphoma Society. along with our sister club.
Right now is the time to mark your calendars with some of the events
leading up to the regatta, such as the Clean Up Day on April 12th
at DCYC. John Lusk is heading up this project. Come for an hour
or all day and let’s get the club looking its very best.
Jill Ball, the auction committee chairman, is holding a Fish Fry
on April 19th . Her son, Jeremy is donating the fish. The purpose
of the dinner is to collect items to be donated for the silent or
live auctions that will be held during the regatta weekend and for
Jeremy to raise money for his fundraising goal. Come on out, bring
a friend and a gift to donate and a check for $10 made out to the
Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Some of the highlights for the DCYC LCR weekend include the Friday
evening Grill Fest, manned by the multihull fleet, our famous “Mount
Gay Rum Happy Hour” on Saturday at 5pm, followed by dinner
provided by the Olive Garden. A spectacular live auction will be
held after dinner. The evening will be topped off by the appearance
and performance of “The Infidels.” Sunday lunch will
be provided by Prairie House. Of course, all of our meals for the
weekend will be coordinated by the fantastic Michele Ditmer.
Details for the Regatta weekends are now posted on the link to CSCsailing.org.

You can also take a look at the schedule of events to see dates
and times of activities. These weekends are for you to enjoy, so
take advantage of the opportunity to support the sport of sailing,
your club and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
“We race to win while helping The Leukemia Lymphoma Society
achieve its mission:
Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and
improve the quality of life of patients and their families.”
By the way… did anyone happen to notice that in this month’s
Hailer, the Commodore, the Fleet Captain and the Fleet Surgeon were
all wearing hats featured at past LCRs?
