What is The Leukemia Cup Regatta?
Since
1993, sailors across America have been raising more than just a
sail to help save the lives of children and adults with leukemia,
lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. Over $12 million has been
raised over the last 10 years in support of this great cause. In
2003 alone, the sailing community raised more than $2.6 million
at 45 regattas across the country. More than 17,000 participants
took part in The Leukemia Cup Regatta series last year. Noted sailing
expert and ESPN commentator, Gary Jobson, serves as the national
chairman.
Dallas
Corinthian Yacht Club hosted the first North Texas Leukemia Cup
Regatta in 2002 and broke the mold with achieving status of the
highest grossing first year regatta in this national event’s
history. That was only the beginning, Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club
has continued to expand and grow The Leukemia Cup Regatta benefiting
the North Texas Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
With this year adding a Dinghy weekend on April 24 & 25 at Corinthian
Sailing Club on White Rock Lake.
We hope you’ll join us this year. With goals of attracting
1000 participants over the two weekends, hosting over 125 sailors
and raising $100,000 or more, this Regatta is sure to be fun for
all and the event of a lifetime for all involved.
