  The 40th Anniversary Hobie Mid Americas Regatta will be held at DCYC over the Memorial Day weekend.   The Mid Americas event is one of the few Hobie regattas that has been held for 40 consecutive years.   This should be one of the larger Hobie Class Area Championships in recent years.  

  This regatta will be one to remember as we are expecting an exceptional turnout from all of the Hobie Fleets within this region. Keep checking the Fleet 23 web site for updates.

  Participants will begin arriving Thursday (5/23) and Friday (5/24).  Races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.  An awards ceremony will be held early Sunday afternoon.

  • Dinner / Party ~ 6:20 pm  The meal is being catered by Aspen Catering.  The menu is:  Yankee Pot Roast, seasoned green beans, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, dinner salad, and dessert. DCYC members can purchase the social packages (more info below) at  http://www.hobiefleet23.com/ by May 15, the club will NOT bill for this event, it must be paid to the Hobie Fleet 23. No walk-ups will be fed, all must preorder.

  Now that's school is out- or about to be out - there's no better time to think about getting ready for the sailing season this summer!    This clinic is directed towards gearing up the kids for Texas youth race week and potential National competitions.  It is designed to show kids the amount of work it takes to not only set and achieve high goals but also to show the work is fun and the rewards are worth it.

               Open to all junior racers

  For those of you who don't know me I competed in optis from age 11-14 where I qualified for three International events and the 2008 U.S. National Team. I sailed C420s until I was 18 where I finished 12th at the 2011 North Americans and 2nd at the U.S. Junior Double-Handed Nationals (Bemis Finals). I am about to complete my freshman year at Hobart and William Smith where I was able to compete not only almost everyweekend in various college regattas but also in the larger intersectional regattas like the Truxton, Navy Fall, and as an alternate for the College Semifinals (Hobart William Smith qualified for Nationals and I am part of the team going to the College Nationals, but who sails is determined just before the regatta) 

  I grew up in the Dallas area and I would love nothing more than to see the sport prosper there again. I will give the kids information they need in order to compete on a high level all while having fun with it.

  DCYC Windward Sailing Camp on LAKE LEWISVILLE

  CAMP 1: June 10-14, 2013 for Beginners, Level 1 and Level 2.

  CAMP 2: July 8-11, 2013 for Level 3 or campers who have completed Camp 1 and have coach's approval to attend Camp 2.

  This registration is for Camp 1 only.  Camp 2 is a separate registration.

  
  

  Camp is a DAY CAMP ONLY.
  

  Monday - Friday, drop off is 9AM, pick up is 5PM.  Early pick up on Friday at 2PM. 

  Price is $275 for the children/grandchildren of DCYC members. Price is $325 for non-members.  There is a $25 discount for each sibling attending the same camp, after the first sibling pays full price.  

  Please bring your own sack lunch each day. Bottled water, lemonade, and snacks will be provided each day.

  Registration begins April 11 and ends May 24. Camp is limited to 30 campers.

  Campers will be required to bring their own life jacket each day, and they must pass a swim test on the first day of camp before participating.

  This is the 8th year for Windward Sailing Camp!

  The junior sailing camp is a wonderful time at DCYC where water and boating safety, sailing instruction, and fun memories are had by all campers. 

  Camp 1 is open to boys and girls between the ages of  8 - 15, by June 1, 2013 (members and non-members). 

  Each day is packed with activities such as sailing instruction, time on the water, games, swimming, and great times with friends.

  •·       This series will be a Reverse Start, Pursuit Race Format.  The start will be West of DCYC club house between the Red and Green buoys.  There will be a skippers meeting at the first event held May 18th at 7 pm.   In subsequent events, the race committee will post the course on the front door of the club house and on the back of the designated committee boat. Dates:

  •·         Sat May 18th: Full Moon 1, 8pm

  •·         Sat June 22^nd: Full Moon 2, 8pm
